Disk Manager is a hard disk drive installation utility that provides the following features:
-Fast and easy hard drive installation using the most commonly installed configuration choices.
-Make full use of the FAT32 File System if your operating system supports it. Formats drives larger than 2GB with one partition.
-Break the 8.4GB barrier. Install IDE/ATA drives larger than 8.4GB as a single bootable partition using the FAT32 File System, or as multiple FAT12/16 partitions. (SCSI and other types of drives may be installed to BIOS capacity.)
-Fast Format for IDE/ATA/SCSI drives. Completely installs drives in less than one minute in most cases.

Selecting An Operating System
During installation, Disk Manager requires you to select the operating system you are currently using or will be using so it can properly determine what file system type to use.
If you are not installing the new drive as your boot drive, then select the operating system you are currently booting to.
If you are installing the new drive as your boot drive, select the operating system that you plan to install.
The selection of the Operating System will determine the type and number of partitions Disk Manager will create.
- For Windows 95/95a/Dos, Disk Manager will create a number of equally sized FAT16 Partitions. Disk Manager will create more than one partition if the drive is larger than 2 GB. (2 GB is the maximum size for a FAT16 partition)
-For Windows 98/2000/Me Disk Manager will create one large FAT32 partition equal to the total capacity of the hard drive.
- For Windows NT, Disk Manager will create one Fat16 Partition up to 2 GB in size.

Booting To Diskette
If your hard disk drive was installed with Ontrack's Dynamic Drive Overlay (DDO) you will need to follow the three steps below every time you want to boot from a diskette. If you do not follow this procedure, your operating system (OS) will be unable to access the hard drive correctly.
1) Remove the diskette from drive A:, if present.
2) Boot the system from the hard drive, pressing the SPACEBAR as soon as the blue Ontrack banner appears.
3) When prompted, insert your boot diskette in drive A: and press the SPACEBAR.
As an alternative, you can create an Ontrack Boot Diskette. This can be done by selecting the "Create DDO Diskette" option from the "Installation Complete" screen in Disk Manager.
NOTE: If you have just finished installing your boot drive, upon reboot, the Dynamic Drive Overlay will display a message requesting an operating system installation diskette and wait for you to press the SPACEBAR before proceeding.

Dynamic Drive Overlay (DDO)
A "Dynamic Drive Overlay" or DDO is a device driver that enables systems to overcome the limitations of their system BIOS. Without a DDO, some systems could not translate your drive properly and therefore you could not access the full capacity of your drive. DDO will load each time that you boot your computer.
Because DDO will now be part of the boot process you need to be aware of the system boot requirements. See the "Booting To Diskette" help topic for more information.
